Although its name implies "small", Little Lagoon is the largest of the five coastal lakes along the Alabama coast, which give home or condo buyers many options to purchase waterfront property near the beach. Little Lagoon is 10 miles long and 3/4 of a mile wide in the middle and is only separated from the Gulf by a 1/2 mile stretch of land known as West Beach. The water in Little Lagoon is considered brackish, with saltwater coming in through the pass (a channel that leads to the Gulf) and fresh water that spills in from Lake Shelby from the east.
One of the best highlights of the condos that are for sale on Little Lagoon, especially if you're above the 4th or 5th floor, is that you could easily have water views of both the Lagoon and the Gulf. Another big selling point is that most of these condos take advantage of this big beautiful body of water by offering boating facilities including fishing piers and boat slips.
