Are you wanting to sell your home or condo in Gulf Shores? Well, one of the biggest tricks to staging is to allow the buyer to picture the space as their own. Which is the very reason why you should......
De-Personalize Your Space
De-personalizing has to do with removing everything from your home that reminds the buyer of you. At first glance, this may sound harsh but think about it. Home or condo buyers aren't buying your stuff. Even in the case of Gulf Shores condos where units are typically sold furnished, the buyer is only concerned with what's coming with the sale. You don't want them to get sidetracked by pictures of you and your other half sunbathing on the beach.
Take this picture for instance.......
This is a lovely picture of I'm sure a lovely family but if you were selling this home, these pictures would have to go. The buyer can't picture themselves in this space if all they see is you and every member of your family.
Buying a new home is a very personal experience and buyers will try to see themselves and their family living in the house. That's really hard to do when they go down the hallway and see something like the wall pictured above.
Here are some of the ways you can de-personalize:
- family photos
- everything that is attached to the front of your fridge
- your trophy collection
- collectibles
- toys
- pet bowls & toys
- certificates and awards
- collections of anything
- toiletries
- your clothes
By removing these items from your home that you're trying to sell, buyers will be able to focus on what's important and become more connected with the property.
I'm sure that you've visited a model home or even rented a vacation home. Well, both of these are likely good examples of how your property should look for buyers.
